What happened when SeRi crashed in North Korea?

Crash Landing on You is a romantic drama series from south Korea, extended to portray also north Korea.

You see, this romantic netflix drama series had me glued to the screen.

You know why? It is very intriguing. The story intertwines in between south and north Korea, so separated, yet so close to each other. Even closer, when love is involved.

The strong female lead, Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), is definitely the epitome of successful, strong female. Growing up in a wealthy but very cut throat family in south Korea, she endured and came out on the top levels in business, with her fashion and skin care line.

The moment Seri’s whole life starts to add up and she is getting the highest regard even from her father, who wants her to take over the family business, she disappears while paragliding in South Korea.

It is a shock to all, but not inconvenient for her enemies. Her brothers did not like the fact that she is taking over the lucrative and wealthy family company and feel entitled to the fortune. Also their wives are very vocal about how much they despise SeRi.

There was a strom while Seri was paragliding and it transported her to the no men zone in north Korea. That area between north and south, where, no-one besides the military, is allowed in. She fainted during the storm, and ends up hanging from a tree.

Someone very special for the story will rescue her. A captain of a north Korean military team, who is patrolling the area, Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin). Se-ri awakens confused, her radio isn’t working. They both lock eyes and meet for the first time that instant. The encounter is quite brief and shocking.

Of course, who would believe to go paragliding and then you ending up in north Korea? It is really bizarre.

Se-ri is in shock and runs. Smart and also lucky woman, she finds her way to trick this patrol team and ends up in a small village. Noticing already the differences between south and north. This village is in a rural area, no paved streets and it looks like a farming community.

She ends up in front of house Ri Jeong-hyeok, what a coincidence?

There are so many scary, intriguing, shocking, but also sweet and heartwarming moments and side stories.

Her being in north Korea, trying to get back to south Korea is the main focus, but much more will be unraveled.

Meanwhiles the Captain Ri who is harbouring her, has his own secrets he will not share.

Ri will promise to help her go back, but that is not an easy endeavour.

Their chemistry is undeniable, but they are both too proud to act on it at first, and Ri is a composed military man with some secrets of his own. Often I cannot read him, can you?

Although I see his good intentions, only towards the end of the series I understand his pain.
